Fry’s Metals, formerly Eyre Smelting Co Ltd, the Tandem Works

On receipt of an enquiry from Portugal about an ingot from the Tandem Works with the wording ‘The Eyre Smelting Co. Ltd “Tandem” Bearing Metal D E, Merton Abbey, London’ (see Bulletin 213), we consulted our friendly experts at the Wandle Industrial Museum, who were able to identify its exact composition and purpose.
