Gresham 500th! Free Tudor festival of lectures in 2019, including John Guy lecture

Gresham College is celebrating the 500th anniversary of their founder’s birth this year with a Tudor Festival of lectures. Most of their lectures are free on a first-come, first-served basis.

Visit https://www.gresham.ac.uk/series/gresham-500-celebrations/ for more details and to watch recordings of those lectures that have already taken place.

In addition to his lecture, historian John Guy has published a book about Sir Thomas Gresham.

There is also a free exhibition at the Guildhall Library from Monday 3 June to mid-September: ‘Sir Thomas Gresham: Tudor, Trader, Shipper, Spy’. Visit https://guildhalllibrarynewsletter.wordpress.com/2019/06/03/new-library-exhibition-sir-thomas-gresham-tudor-trader-shipper-spy/

Sir Thomas was a nephew of Sir John Gresham, alderman and lord mayor of London, who was granted the former Merton Priory estate called West Barnes in Merton in 1545.
